New video and forms to assist with welfare and misconduct barring orders Dear licensee Consumer and Business Services (CBS) has issued new barring order forms, together with an instruction video, to assist licensees when issuing barring orders under s125 of the Liquor Licensing Act 1997 on misconduct or welfare grounds. The new video explains the different types of barring orders that may apply and the maximum periods and time frames that licensees and staff should be aware of when barring a patron from their venue. Importantly, as the video explains, there is now an optional section to complete where a licensee wishes to seek the Liquor and Gambling Commissioner’s approval to bar someone, on misconduct grounds, for longer than the maximum period that would otherwise apply. In addition, a separate barring form is now available for barring a person on welfare grounds. The new forms (linked above) are intended to provide greater clarity for you and your staff in following the process that must be undertaken when issuing a barring order to a member of the public.

We recognise that the barring process can be challenging for all involved and hope the video resource will complement the training made available to your staff. For further information about the video please visit cbs.sa.gov.au, or for more information about the barring process and to access the forms please visit sa.gov.au or contact the Liquor Licensing team on phone 131 882 or email liquorandgaming@sa.gov.au.
